The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has implemented sweeping changes to the availability and quality of interpreters in healthcare settings. Commonly known as “Obamacare,” the ACA outlined new regulations for hospitals and clinics that receive federal funding as it relates to their “language access plan.”

Section 1557 of the new bill explains the rights that must be afforded to Limited English Proficiency (LEP) patients and the penalties providers could face if they don’t abide by the regulations.

This eBook will outline some of the law’s effects on the language access and give a general overview of what providers and LEP patients should expect going forward.
